David Gilmour Drops Single Ahead Of New Album

After an almost decade-long wait, the legendary Pink Floyd singer is back with a bang! Recorded over a five-month period between Brighton and London, this fifth solo album marks the long-awaited return of Roger Waters with a set of new compositions. Luck And Strange was produced by David Gilmour, in collaboration with Charlie Andrew. Most of the lyrics were written by Gilmour's long-time collaborator and partner Polly Samson, who've been married since 1994. The themes of Luck And Strange are those of old age and mortality, which are explored in a fascinating way. Luck And Strange includes eight new compositions and a cover of the Montgolfier Brothers' “Between Two Points.”The album also features some incredible musicians, including Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd, and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry and Roger Eno on keyboards, and Will Gardner on string and choral arrangements. The eponymous track also includes recordings by the late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, captured during a 2007 improvisation session in David's barn. It's a real treat! Romany Gilmour provides vocals, plays harp, and offers her vocal talents on “Between Two Points.” Gabriel Gilmour also contributes backing vocals.
