ALL4ONE #522 – New Neil Young, Beatles Lost Takes, 70s/80s Rock & More

October 9, 2026

Classic Hits, Deep Cuts & More

This 523rd episode of ALL4ONE opens with “Casting Me Away from You” by Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, a track he wrote as a teenager around 1964-1965 and dug out of the archives for his 50th studio album, Second Song, released September 18, 2026. The first hour then shines a spotlight on new 2026 releases. Paul McCartney delivers “Days We Left Behind,” the first single from a highly anticipated album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, in which he dives back into his Liverpool memories and evokes John Lennon and Forthlin Road. Ringo Starr, at 86, continues his country reinvention with “It’s Been Too Long,” from Long Long Road, produced by T Bone Burnett and carried by the harmonies of Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz. Mumford & Sons and Chris Stapleton join voices on “Here,” the opening track from Prizefighter, their sixth album released February 13, 2026. The first hour also celebrates the Beatles through demos and unreleased takes from Rubber Soul, reissued October 2, 2026 with a new mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, and revisits classics with Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Tom Petty, and Roger McGuinn.

The second hour, more rock-oriented, runs through anthems from Boston, Asia, Foreigner, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Journey, Heart, The Cars, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Toto. Listeners learn that “More Than a Feeling” was recorded by Tom Scholz, a Polaroid engineer, alone in his basement in Watertown, Massachusetts, before Boston the band truly existed. The show closes with a country and americana sequence bringing together Dolly Parton and Chris Stapleton on a cover of Bob Seger’s “Night Moves,” from the album Rockstar, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Noah Kahan, and finally Allison Russell and Norah Jones on “Really Real,” a duo from In the Hour of Chaos, released July 10, 2026.
